| Abstract : | The new member of the subterranean family Niphargidae (Crustacea: Amphipoda: Senticaudata) is discovered and described from the Maronia Cave, near Maronia town, Rhodopi district, NE Greece, Niphargus beroni, spec. nov., and its relation to some other members of genus Niphargus from adjacent regions of Balkan is discussed. By this way, the number of known members of the family Niphargidae in Greece is elevated to nearly 25 distinct taxa (genera, species and subspecies). |
