Mihailo Nikolic, PhD is a full professor at the Faculty of Agriculture, Zemun, Institute of Pomology and Viticulture. Graduated in 1977 from the Faculty of Agriculture in Belgrade. At the same Faculty he defended his master (1980) and doctoral (1984) thesis. Area of research is pomology and fruit breeding.

He attended the following professional training courses:
1981: Pomology and breeding pome and stone fruit trees; Kiev, Ukraine;
1984: Pomology and breeding of stone and pome fruit trees, Naousa, Greece;
1986: Breeding of stone fruit trees, HRI, East Mallling, England.

Published 120 scientific and 14 technical papers in international and national journals. Co-author of four monographs and two textbooks.

Appointed as the principal research fellow in 1995. He was the leader or member of committees for the defence of more than 50 graduation theses, three master and 7 doctoral theses. 

Participated in the implementation of two international and 11 national projects financed by the Ministry of Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia and Slovenia, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republic of Serbia and the U.S. Agency for International Development. So far, he has been the leader of three strategic projects of technological development and of one National Project of the Ministry of Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia.

He is a member of the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS). He is the Chairman of the Scientific Fruit-Growing Society of Serbia. He is a member of the Commission for the recognition of varieties of stone fruits at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republic of Serbia.

He has been the editor-in-chief of the magazine Fruit-Growing since 1995.
